Moon Jar
Wheel Throwing
Workshop in Seoul
Join ceramic artist Yoon Hee Kim for a two-day Moon Jar making intensive at Slow Clay Studio in Seoul. Intermediate level. Lunch and materials included.
A two-day intensive rooted in Korean tradition.
Over 10 hours, you will work with Korean white porcelain to learn centering, throwing, volumizing, and trimming techniques while creating a complete 8 lbs Moon Jar using Korean-style wheel throwing methods taught by Korean ceramic artist Yoon Hee Kim, founder of Yoon Lab Ceramics. The workshop takes place at the beautifully designed Slow Clay Studio in Seoul and is taught entirely in English. (252 Noksapyeong-daero, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea)
What to ExpectLearn wheel-throwing methods rooted in Joseon-era pottery tradition — posture, force, rhythm, and form as they were practiced by Korean masters.
❋ Korean TechniqueThe Moon Jar is not a beginner project. This workshop requires at least one year of wheel-throwing experience and the ability to throw a 15” tall cylinder.
❋ A Demanding Form❋ Small CohortLimited seats mean focused instruction. You will spend real time at the wheel with direct guidance both days.
All tools, porcelain clay and materials are provided. Lunch is included on both days. The only thing you need to bring is comfortable clothing you do not mind getting clay on.
❋ Everything ProvidedAbout the Instructor
Yoon Hee Kim is a Korean ceramic artist based in the United States and founder of Yoon Lab Ceramics.
