Moon Jar Wheel Throwing Intensive in Seoul
A two-day intensive rooted in Korean tradition.
Over 10 hours, you will work with Korean white porcelain to learn centering, throwing, volumizing, and trimming techniques while creating a complete 8lbs Moon Jar using Korean-style wheel throwing methods taught by Korean ceramic artist Yoon Hee Kim, founder of Yoon Lab Ceramics. The workshop takes place at the beautifully designed Slow Clay Studio in Seoul and is taught entirely in English.
What to ExpectLearn wheel-throwing methods rooted in Joseon-era pottery tradition — posture, force, rhythm, and form as they were practiced by Korean masters.
❋ Korean TechniqueThe Moon Jar is not a beginner project. This workshop requires at least one year of wheel-throwing experience and the ability to throw a 7 lbs tall cylinder.
❋ A Demanding FormLimited seats mean focused instruction. You will spend real time at the wheel with direct guidance throughout both days.
❋ Small Cohort❋ Everything ProvidedAll tools, porcelain clay and materials are provided. Lunch is included on both days. The only thing you need to bring is comfortable clothing you do not mind getting clay on.
This workshop is about learning the form rather than taking one home.
At the end of the workshop, your Moon Jars will be cut open, a traditional way of studying the wall thickness, shape, and internal structure.
